After moving to Universal he starred in a number of westerns, appeared in three Abbott and Costello comedies including Ride ‘em Cowboy (1942) where he introduced the jazz standard “I’ll Remember April.” Foran was also featured with the Andrews Sisters and Harry James Orchestra in Private Buckaroo (1942) and hosted a popular radio show from 1943-1945.

Foran continued his acting career into the ‘60s, appearing with his good friend, John Wayne, in Donovan’s Reef (1963) and as father to the leading lady in Taggart (1965), which earned him third billing.

His career in television was equally prolific. From 1948 to 1968 he appeared in almost 100 shows. His versatility is apparent in the roles he played--from Studio One and Kraft Theater to Gunsmoke, Science Fiction Theater, and Mayberry R.F.D.
