Frances Comstock enjoyed a modest career on Broadway. Her first major role was in 1934’s Life Begins at 8:40 in which she sang the prologue and “It Was Long Ago.” In 1939 and 1940 she starred with Alfred Drake in two musical revues, One for the Money and the subsequent Two for the Show. In the latter show they introduced “How High the Moon,” which would enjoy longevity in both the pop and jazz worlds. Her last Broadway appearance was in a comedy, The Magic Touch (1947).
